Job title: Jobs – Data Analyst (Numero Uno)

Salary: Competitive

The start-up: One of the most exciting and rapidly growing start-ups in Europe.

Other goodies: Juicy Stock Options in one of Europe's hottest tech start-ups

What you'll be doing:

  • We’re after member number one of our data team. We’ve got pretty far with a few analytical types dotted around, but now is the time to create a data team. The interesting questions are piling up in the corner and there’s a lot of value ready to be realised. Future generations will whisper of the days before we even had a data team.
  • We take it for granted you’re going to have great analytical chops and wouldn’t notice if someone stole your mouse when you’re in excel. But we need much more than that!
  • Being successful means understanding our commercial challenges and how to translate those into to the right analytical questions. Spending time with the team understanding how they work and how they need to work with data is as important as getting to the right answer. And we move quickly - we’re going to be deploying new tools and there’s lots of things we won’t be able to solve in excel so you need to be a quick learner and get up to speed on the latest and greatest tools (which you’ll probably help pick). The team shouldn’t be staying at one for too long, so hiring and people management skills will be useful.
  • Ultimately - we need someone who can set us up to effectively use data to help the company achieve its incredibly ambitious goals.
  • Day-to-day activities include:
  • Working with teams right across the business to understand their challenges and how the right analysis or reporting can increase their performance
  • Develop tools, models and reporting - and know when something simple will suffice and when you need to put your head down and create a complex model
  • Answer key strategic questions, and pick the right methods to answer them - do we really need machine learning or will a regression do?
  • Audit our use of data, data structures and tools and improve them
  • Work with the tech team to ensure we have the correct structure for our data and we are capturing everything we need to
  • Help define how data and analysis fits organisationally - for example should we have analysts in each team or one central team?
